Newspapers seeking police reporter, copy editor/designer and press operator

POLICE REPORTER  — The Charleston Daily Mail is seeking a police/crime/breaking news reporter.

This job takes a mix of tenacity and sensitivity. Much of the job will include breaking news but also branches out into coverage of policing and crime trends, as well as features. It’s an interesting mix that would keep you hopping.
The position requires evening hours.

PRESS OPERATOR — Mountaineer Newspapers is looking to hire a press operator in Grafton, W.Va.  Full-time position includes competitive wages, 40 hour work week. Benefit package includes paid vacation, medical benefits, 401-K and more. Ideal candidates would have experience as a press operator and familiarity with a Goss Community Press.

COPY EDITOR/DESIGNER — The Charleston Daily Mail in West Virginia’s capital is seeking a copy editor/designer.

Responsibilities include copy editing, designing inside and section front pages, and maintaining and optimizing the publication’s Web presence.

Ideal candidates will have two to five years of newspaper experience, strong copy editing skills and a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. We have won multiple General Excellence Awards from the state press association, have a hard-working staff, foster a supportive work environment — and enjoy Saturday nights off.
