CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Wild, Wonderful West Virginia will air its new winter ad during the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl matchup between West Virginia University and Arizona State University at 10:15 p.m. EST Saturday, Jan. 2 on ESPN.
The ad will air in Baltimore, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and markets throughout West Virginia including Bridgeport, Charleston, Clarksburg, Elkins, Fairmont, Logan, Morgantown and Parkersburg.
“Winter time in the Mountain State holds special meaning for West Virginians. We’ve made so many wonderful memories on the slopes of these wild, wonderful mountains,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “It’s great to share this love of the outdoors with folks from across the nation who will be tuning in to cheer on their favorite team.”
The TV spot debuted during the St. Petersburg Bowl, Marshall University vs. University of Connecticut, Dec. 26. The ad spot will also air Jan. 2 on ESPN3 during the Cancer Research Classic held in Wheeling, West Virginia.
In addition to the launch of the TV ad spot featuring families enjoying a variety of winter activities, including snow tubing, shopping and museums, the GoToWV Team supplied game watch giveaway packs to watch parties organized by the Washington D.C., Baltimore, Charlotte, Central Ohio, Greater Kanawha Valley and Wood County WVU Alumni Chapters. Included were copies of the new Winter Guide.
The new Winter Guide, a pocket guide to winter events and activities, also features a section in which kids and adults can collect stickers from places they visit–their very own passport to winter fun in the Mountain State.
