BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — No injuries were reported Wednesday afternoon when a playground mulch fire caused the evacuation of a local day care center.

The Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the playground behind the Imagination Station Day Care in Green Valley.

What we had here is a small mulch fire,” Captain David Thompson said after the fire was extinguished. “The mulch spread throughout the playground itself. It got multiple pieces of playground equipment. The facility had an evacuation plan in place. Everybody got out with no injuries.
