MORGANTOWN — Festivities at the Monongalia County Fair continued at Mylan Park on Aug. 3, including two pageants and livestock shows.

Hundreds gathered inside the J.W. and Hazel Ruby McQuain Center for the fair’s Teen/Junior Miss pageants. The 18 contestants were judged on several categories including on-stage interviews and who brought the most beauty to there night gowns, among others.

At the end of the night, Whitney Wade was crowned the fair’s Teen Miss for 2016 while Kaitlyn Frisk was crowned Junior Miss for the year.

“It was so much fun,” Wade said after being crowned. She added that the process, at first, made her very nervous, but that soon faded after becoming friends with her fellow competitors.

Frisk also said the pageant was nerve-wracking at first, but the fun of the competition soon outweighed nervousness.

The fair also hosted the 4-H & FFA Goat, Sheep and Dairy Showmanship and Show, where animals raised by students were displayed.
