Teach students not to get a job, but create one

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For generations, the societal expectations for recent high school and college graduates were simple: get a job.

It’s time for that line of thinking to change.

Not that we don’t want new graduates to work. Quite the opposite — society still expects every capable citizen to be productive and contribute.

But instead of teaching youth to simply learn how to get a job, our education system and the taxpayers who fund it are now recognizing the need to teach them how to create their own jobs…
