Future haunted by budget cuts

BECKLEY, W.Va. — On Friday night at the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce annual dinner, WVU Tech President Carolyn Long was handed the key to the city.

In presenting the key, Beckley’s first lady Lynn O’Brien said, “She (Long) and her staff are the key to this city’s future.”

So, no pressure, President Long. Just the future of our city rests on your broad shoulders.

Just kidding. We all know that’s not true. We all have a role in repairing the economic damage done by a decades-long reliance on coal tax revenues…
