A bathroom bill? Really? (Smacks head, rolls eyes)

BECKLEY, W.Va. — We’re pretty sure that if a poll were commissioned to ask West Virginia citizens what issues they’d like to see addressed front and center by our state legislators, that jobs, jobs, jobs would rank pretty high. Flood recovery wouldn’t be far behind. Right?

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is thinking about calling the legislature back into special session to address the toll the June floods visited upon our state.

Damage to roads and bridges, homes and businesses was especially acute here in southern West Virginia. It’s going to be awhile before everything’s back to normal – and that’s only if we don’t take our collective eye off the ball.

But there are some socially conservative Republicans who, with the door ajar, saw an opportunity to introduce a “bathroom bill…
