BECKLEY, W.Va. — Owners of Hawk Knob Hard Cider, the state’s first and only cidery, are asking West Virginians to help them fundraise to set up a tap system in their tasting room and distribute their product in areas throughout the state.

The Lewisburg cidery’s 30-day Kickstarter campaign will launch this weekend, aiming to raise $20,000.

Currently, tours and tastings of Hawk Knob Hard Cider are available by appointment only, and the owners have to open $40 worth of bottled product to host a tasting for one person.

If they raise enough money, owners Josh Bennett and Will Lewis will set up a tap system, eliminating the need to open bottles for tasting. They will also be able to host regular tasting hours so visitors don’t have to make an appointment.

The cider is currently available in a number of locations in Lewisburg (Stardust Cafe and The Irish Pub to name a few), Fayetteville (Pies and Pints, Secret Sandwich Society and Studio B) and a restaurant at Snowshoe.

But Bennett and Lewis want to distribute their product in Beckley, Charleston and Morgantown…
