Audra State Park offers several hiking trails for visitors.
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Several state parks in the region are gearing up for an exciting summer of family fun with additions and renovations.
“April is a great time to start visiting our state parks,” said Robert Beanblossom, state parks district administrator.
State parks are technically already open to the public, but water lines and restrooms will not be turned on and available until after the danger of freezing has passed.
For those who enjoy camping earlier or later in the season, 30-amp electrical outlets have been added at six sites in Audra State Park.
“With the times changing, people have been wanting electric,” said Park Superintendent John Teets. “They want to capitalize on the time before and after peak season.”
The six sites are large enough for RVs to use, and Teets said that should help increase the park’s attendance during the earliest and latest times of the year.
“Before we had electricity, they were bypassing us and not thinking about us,” Teets said.
He also said park staff is working to expand the list of products available in the campground store.
Stonewall Resort is always being updated, and this year visitors will have the chance to play golf on the new King’s Course.
