Pirates’ new Morgantown affiliate unveils uniforms

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia Black Bears, a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate that will play minor league baseball in Morgantown, unveiled team uniforms Monday, May 18.

Matthew Drayer, the team’s general manager, hosted a press conference at the Monongalia County Ballpark to show off the uniforms.

The Black Bears will don black (coal), blue (sky) and gold (sunrise) as a tribute to both partners.

“We wanted to go with that feel and meld the idea of the Mountaineers who are graciously sharing their facility, and, of course, our Major League affiliates — the Pittsburgh Pirates,” Drayer said.
