Nigeria native expands Clarksburg cardiovascular care

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — When Dr. John Adeniyi crosses the red line of the surgery wing at United Hospital Center, the charismatic father of two transforms into a renowned vascular surgeon.

As a vascular surgeon, much of Adeniyi’s job is treating diseases of blood vessels, such as varicose veins, carotid arteries and aneurysms.

“Some of us also have extra training to deal with wounds that are related to vascular problems, like venous ulcers and ulterior wounds,” Adeniyi said.

Adeniyi was a driving force behind UHC acquiring its state-of-the-art cardiovascular suite.

“It was one of the things that I was passionate about,” he said. “I had great support from the hospital.”

The suite allows Adeniyi and his associate, Dr. Gurjeet Kaleka, to have specialized equipment available during operations.

“UHC is very forward looking. They not only built the room, but they built a lot of redundancy in the room so that we can in the future expand and add more convenience,” Adeniyi said.

Most recently, Adeniyi became the owner of the United Vein Center, which after a year is starting to pick up steam, he said.

“We are always looking for the next good thing or the next advance to move the specialty forward and give our patients the best and the most up-to-date treatment available,” Adeniyi said.

The new center allows for treatment of common vein problems, such as varicose veins and venous ulcers.

“We have state-of-the-art equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of those conditions,” Adeniyi said.

Adeniyi is continually training and learning new techniques in the field of vascular surgery.
