Huntington’s leap day babies have special stories

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two special babies were the first leap day babies born at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital Monday, blessing two sets of local parents who weren’t sure they would even have children.

Ethan McDavid was the first leap day baby born, arriving at 9:01 a.m. after a scheduled cesarean section at St. Mary’s to parents Lisa and Sean McDavid of Grayson, Kentucky.

Sean McDavid said they weren’t sure they would have baby number one, 2-year-old Liam, but Lisa went through fertility treatment and in vitro fertilization.

“The treatment really kick-started my body into gear, because for years, nothing,” Lisa McDavid said. “It’s definitely a miracle.”

Isabel Sarrat was born at 10:55 a.m. at Cabell Huntington to parents Maria and Marcos Sarrat of Huntington, four days after her due date.
