Former UPI vice president and West Virginia native John Kady dead

WHEELING — The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register report that

John T. Kady, a former United Press International reporter, bureau chief, and vice president, died of a heart attack in Columbus, Ohio, on August 4, 2013. He was 79.

Kady’s career with UPI spanned 35 years. Kady was also the author of two books, “A Sentry’s Saga,” and “A Reporter’s Notebook: Kennedy to Kent State,” and wrote articles for “BloodHorse Magazine” until the time of his death.

Kady was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Wheeling, and graduated from West Virginia University in 1959 with a degree in journalism and immediately embarked on his career with UPI.
