FBI Citizens Academy aims to demystify agency

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The FBI hopes participants in its annual Citizens’ Police Academy aim to learn as much as they can about the law enforcement agency and how it operates.

On Sunday, participants in the academy got to take aim at targets — on the shooting range, that is — just as FBI agents are required to do for firearms training.

The students have been participating in the nine week course that meets weekly to help them demystify what it is the FBI does.

“We do it every year at this time of year, and we’re kind of right in the middle of it,” said Randy Thysse, Criminal Justice Information Services Division deputy assistant director.
