Cabell County lawmaker to run for attorney general

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Del. Doug Reynolds, D-Cabell, announced his candidacy for West Virginia Attorney General during a press conference Tuesday in Charleston.

Reynolds, 39, told a crowd of family, friends, supporters and House of Delegates members in the Secretary of State’s office he wanted to use the position as attorney general to combat the state’s drug abuse problem, help small businesses seek justice and protect the state’s citizens, particularly those who are elderly, from scam artists and identity thieves.

The announcement came almost three months after he announced he wouldn’t be seeking re-election to the House of Delegates, representing portions of Cabell and Wayne counties, a position to which he first was elected in 2006.
