AEP earnings up $72M over same quarter in ’15

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. –American Electric Power seems to be doing well financially despite turning off the lights at the coal-fired Kammer Plant in Marshall County last year, as it saw its second-quarter earnings increase by $72 million over the same period in 2015.

In total, AEP reported earning $502 million between April and June, which is up from the $430 million it collected from April to June of 2015.

The earnings report comes as AEP proceeds with demolition work at the shuttered Kammer Plant, where metal panels are being removed from the giant building. However, AEP spokeswoman Joelle Connors said the company has no immediate plans to demolish any of the plant’s three stacks, the tallest of which towers approximately 900 feet…
