POSTED Nov. 27, 2017: The Inter-Mountain, a six-day daily newspaper with offices located in Elkins and Buckhannon, WV, is seeking an outgoing person to manage and grow newspaper sales.
Our Circulation Director has a team of two District Sales Managers and a Clerk in our 8 county region of beautiful North-Central West Virginia. You will be responsible for the acquisition of new home delivery customers through telesales, neighborhood canvassing and independent contractors. Other responsibilities include monitoring existing retail outlets and coming up with new locations for distribution. The highly self-motivated person we are seeking will have flexible working hours. Our scenic region is known for great hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and many other outdoor activities. Our ideal candidate will have great communication skills, computer knowledge in Excel and Word and sales experience. Must have a valid driver’s license, management experience preferred and a minimum of three years experience working in a newspaper circulation department.
Position includes a base salary, 401K and full benefits package available.

POSTED AUG. 17, 2017: MORGANTOWN, W. VA. — NCWV Media, owner of multiple, highly successful and expanding digital and print media platforms across West Virginia is looking for an exceptional, hard-working, multimedia journalist to cover Morgantown and Monongalia County, primarily for our state-wide digital and print media, The State Journal.

This is a full-time position.

The ideal candidate has a fierce desire to cover news and feature assignments for The State Journal’s digital (website, social media) and print platforms. Content may also be published on our other media platforms including the Exponent Telegram, Preston County News & Journal, The Fairmont News, The Weston News, The Bridgeport News and the Garrett County Republican located in Oakland, MD.

Knowledge and a general understanding of working with social media, video and still photography is a plus.

This position may require evening and weekend hours working mainly from our Clarksburg headquarters.

“Community journalism is at its best when the journalists know the community and understand the issues,” Smith said. “Right now we have a media company looking to hire journalists for its operations in Logan and Williamson. The company is especially looking for candidates living in the region or with ties to the region and an interest in returning home, though all interested candidates are welcome and will be considered.”

POSTED FEB. 28, 2017 —  The Herald-Dispatch, a locally owned, award-winning daily newspaper in Huntington, W.Va., is seeking a motivated journalist with sports experience for a full-time position as a sports copy editor.

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience in news design, a firm grasp of AP style and grammar, and a knowledge of sports. The candidate also should be comfortable with Adobe software such as InDesign and have a degree in journalism or equivalent work experience.

The evening position entails working closely with the sports and news editors to design and lay out the daily sports section as well as any special sports publications throughout the year. Benefits include a competitive salary, paid vacation, health, dental and vision insurance as well as disability plans and a 401(K).
