Popular podcast boosts Herald-Dispatch drive

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The McElroy brothers know funny.

The Huntington natives Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy are the voices and minds behind four of the Top 40 Comedy Podcasts on iTunes, including the brand new No. 1 comedy podcast, “The Adventure Zone,” and their popular brotherly advice show, “My Brother, My Brother and Me.”

What they don’t think is funny is reading Empty Stockings, The Herald-Dispatch’s list of area people’s Christmas wishes that are screened by Information and Referral at the Cabell County Public Library.

It was reading those simple and heartbreaking requests for Christmas that has spurred brothers McElroy into action.

At noon Tuesday, Justin McElroy posted a call to the followers of MBMBaM, the podcast heard weekly by an average of 70,000 listeners from around the world, to pitch in and help out Empty Stockings.
