Parkersburg paper names new ad director

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The Parkersburg News and Sentinel has named a new advertising director.

Ann Troutman was the advertising director for the Escanaba (Mich.) Daily Press, an 8,000 circulation newspaper owned by Ogden Newspapers, the parent company of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel. Troutman worked for the Daily Press for 12 years, including 10 years as advertising director, and previously was in the wholesale and retail automotive industry for 23 years.

“I’m looking forward to becoming part of the community and getting involved with the wonderful people who we have met,” she said.

Escanaba is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Delta County. An obvious difference between Escanaba and the Mid-Ohio Valley is the weather, she said.

However, Troutman and her husband, Tony, have lived in Virginia, including at Norfolk when he was in the U.S. Navy, and enjoyed it. Tony retired from the Navy.

“This was a nice move for us to make,” Troutman said.

The Troutmans have three children, Nick, 31, Zack, 25, and Ben, 18, and two grandsons.

“We like to travel with (the grandchildren,)” Troutman said.

She is anxious to have their grandchildren visit from Michigan.

“We are excited to show them this part of the country,” she said. “We really are.”

The Troutmans also have a dog, a Newfoundland named Yogi, and enjoy boating and the outdoors.

She is involved with Junior Achievement and the Athena Award Committee.

Troutman’s responsibilities also will include advertising oversight of The Marietta Times, Graffiti and Parent Magazine.

“We are excited to have someone with Ann’s background and expertise to take over as head of our advertising departments,” Jim Spanner, publisher, said. “I look forward to introducing Ann to all of our advertising partners.”
