Carrier ‘dedicated life to Bluefield Daily Telegraph’

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A dedicated veteran paper carrier for the Daily Telegraph passed away Wednesday night.

Jack Mitchem Jr. 55, of the Princeton area, served the Daily Telegraph as an independent contractor for 38 years.

Daily Telegraph Circu-lation Manager Christina Meadows said ink was in Mitchem’s blood. “He was awesome,” Meadows said. “He was a veteran carrier. His dad was a paper carrier before him. He started helping his daddy probably around 1965, 1966. He started with his own paper route in 1977. He didn’t miss a day after that.”
