Watson, Daly commit early to Greenbrier Classic

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Sound the General Lee and stock up on some Diet Coke.

Crowd favorites Bubba Watson and John Daly have both made early commitments to play in the 2016 Greenbrier Classic.

The PGA Tour event, now in its seventh year, will be played July 4-10 on The Old White TPC Course at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs.

Still, convincing the world’s best golfers to make the trip to West Virginia will be more taxing than in previous years for Executive Tournament Director Monte Ortel.

A major scheduling problem was created by the return of men’s golf this summer to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The addition of the Games in August forced major shuffling of the PGA Tour schedule…
