U.S. Senator Capito’s Weekly Address to West Virginians

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In this week’s video message, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito outlines the latest progress in establishing a regional ethane storage hub in Appalachia and her efforts to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, an issue that has impacted her family directly:

Hi there!

Remember when I told you about the Appalachian storage hub project during Infrastructure Week back in May?

Well, this week, I introduced two bills that will help make this regional hub a reality.

The first bill directs the secretary of Energy and the secretary of Commerce to expedite federal permitting for the project.

The second bill, which I introduced with Senator Manchin, would help secure loan opportunity for the hub.

I will continue leading this important effort to make the most of our energy potential, create jobs and spur economic growth in the Mountain State.

This project can be a game-changer for West Virginia, and these bills are the next steps in making it happen.

I also wanted to let you know about an issue that is near and dear to my heart.

To help raise awareness, I wore purple this week in honor of my parents, Arch and Shelley Moore, who I miss very much.

As many of you know, they both suffered from Alzheimer’s.

The disease not only took them from us, but it made it very difficult for our family to care for them.

The best thing we can do is end Alzheimer’s.

This month, I invite you to wear purple to help raise awareness for this important effort.

I always love hearing from you, and there are many ways you can connect with me.

Have a wonderful weekend!
