Traveling exhibit on life, legacy of Sen. Robert C. Byrd on display in Lewisburg

Former U.S. Representatives Rahall, Mollohan to speak Sept. 2 at opening reception

 

Shepherdstown, W.Va.  – The Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education will open its traveling exhibit, “Robert C. Byrd: Senator, Statesman, West Virginian” with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Greenbrier Valley Convention and Visitors Center. Byrd Center Logo

The exhibit tells the story of Sen. Byrd’s origins in the coal fields, his service to the state and the nation, and his lasting legacy as the West Virginian of the 20th Century. To reflect on their decades of public service with Senator Byrd, former U.S. Representatives Nick J. Rahall II and Alan B. Mollohan will offer remarks.

 

From Sept. 2 to 30, the exhibit can be viewed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Greenbrier Valley Convention and Visitors Center. During the opening reception on Sept. 2, During the reception, light refreshments will be served, courtesy of Dinsmore & Shohl.

From Oct. 3 to Nov. 8, the exhibit will be hosted at Concord University.

The Centennial of Senator Byrd’s birth is Nov. 20, 2017, and the traveling exhibit will be at the Culture Center in Charleston, where a grand celebration is being planned.
