Officials urge state residents to appeal July storm help denials

CLARKSBURG, W.Va.  — West Virginians impacted by July 28-29 severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides who are denied federal aid can appeal the ruling, officials said.

Applicants who receive a denial letter are urged to read all the way through the document. Many times, a quick fix can result in subsequent approval, officials said.
For information, visit the closest Disaster Recovery Center to talk to a Federal Emergency Management Agency specialist; visit www.fema.gov; download the FEMA app; or call the helpline at (800) 621-3362. Those who use TTY can call (800) 462-7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service can call (800) 621-3362.
