CHARLESTON, W.Va.  – A bill to break up the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources into three separate agencies passed the House Tuesday in a 62-36 vote.

Under House Bill 4014, the Office of Inspector General and the Department of health Care Facilities would be separate from the main entities.

The bill originally would have separated the DHHR into four agencies.

“We considered recommendations from WVU when we looked at this,” Delegate Amy Summers, R-Taylor, said. “We narrowed down the focus on these two policy changes — the Office of Inspector General and state hospitals and nursing homes to be removed from DHHR.”

Delegate Linda Longstreth, D-Marion, said she has a few concerns about the bill.
