Cabell County sees $16M soccer tourney impact

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — As the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Championship Tournament wrapped up its final games on Tuesday, those participating and organizing the event offered rave reviews of the region and all the work that goes into making it a success.

“This is a great day,” said Gzim Derti, of Schnecksville, Pennsylvania. “We enjoyed our time here in West Virginia, and winning made it even better.”

Derti watched his 18-year-old son Byron win the regional championship with Lehigh Valley United 97, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, at Cabell Midland High School field in Ona on Tuesday in the Boys Under-18 bracket.
