CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A bill to sell the Jackie Withrow long-term care facility in Beckley is pending before the House Finance Committee.

Gov. Jim Justice added House Bill 113, the bill relating to the Jackie Withrow facility, to the call on May 24, along with several other bills including the 2018 budget bill. House Bill 113 was referred to the House Committee on Finance.

Under this bill, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Resources would sell the hospital. The secretary also would ensure patients are transferred to an area facility and minimize potential risk that could arise from relocating current residents.

The secretary also would prepare a benefits package for employees who are laid off, employed by a successor company or retire as a result of the divestment.
